Outdoor Play
Outdoor play is SO important for young children! All of our students, (including infants 8 months old and older) go outside twice a day - in the morning and again in the afternoon. Our infants and non-walking students go for a buggy ride around the school, playground area, and hospital property. Our older students go down to our playground for some fresh air and to get the wiggles out! Studies show that children who have outdoor play time are better able to focus while at school. Our students have both free play time and also work on gross motor skill activities while on the playground. The ECLA playground includes three raised-bed gardens, plenty of shade with three large shade sails, a drinking fountain for quick access to water, and plenty of bikes and play equipment to keep even the busiest child busy! Safety is always our number one priority so we have two closed-circuit television cameras on the playground so we can monitor our students activities from inside.
